After quite a few gigs with the Jazz Dynamos, as well as the Stirling Austin Band, not forgetting my good friend Murph's Dirty Dog Band, I went to France to record a few tracks with bassist Franck Bedez, guitarist Fab Tranzer and singer Ian Brown for our new project. The feel of this band is unique and these new tracks sound awesome, not mentioning Ian's vocals always knocking me off! This guy can sing! I can't wait to hear some premixes, and maybe I'll be able to post some previews.
In early January, we went back on the road with the Glenn Miller Memorial Orchestra. We are currently in France, you can check the dates here. If we play somewhere near you please come to see the show and say hello.
Marco Soccoli from Vic Firth has just send me their new Vic Grip series. Vic Grip is a new anti-slip drumstick coating made from an eco-friendly, water based urethane. It provides a comfortable and slip resistant grip. I really notice the difference, especially at the beginning of a gig when I did not have enough time to warm up. They just feel good straight away. French magazine 'Batterie' have just published a nice article about my new contract with Vic Firth.
Thanks to Jay Lewington and Bruce Parry from Sabian, I am now playing a new cymbals set including a wonderful 22" Artisan Medium Ride and a 21" VAULT Crossover Ride Riveted, a pair of 14" HHX Legacy Hi-Hats, an 18" Artisan Crash, 19" HHXtreme Crash, 18" Evolution O-Zone Crash (I love it!) and an 18" AAX Chinese.
Also, Franck's new CD 'Franck Bedez Investigations' is now out, featuring Steve Ferrone, Jim Grandcamp, Bas Sluis, Matthieu Zirn, and even myself! Thanks to Franck for putting this project together and for being such a great source of inspiration. Listen / purchase here.
I'll keep you updated on all future info. See you soon!
